corporate health

Kaelo’s Corporate Health initiatives are combine integrated workplace health and wellness programmes that focus on the overall health and well-being of employees and how this relates to productivity.

Diagnosis - Executive Medicals:

In the majority of companies, the Executives and Managers that are essential to the company’s success are also quite often under substantial stress and lack time required to devote to managing their own health and wellness. This puts them at risk of developing chronic illnesses, such as cardiovascular conditions. Kaelo’s Executive Medicals provide a comprehensive examination of the overall health and wellness status of the company’s executive team, followed by detailed reports, advice and referrals. A key differentiator of Kaelo’s medicals is that they are conducted onsite, which ensures that your executive and management teams’ schedules are minimally disrupted.

Diagnosis - Wellness Days

Kaelo Wellness Days are fun, interactive and informative on-site health and wellness events where every single employee is invited to undergo a health assessment which includes medical history intake, assessment of lifestyle risk factors, blood pressure tests, blood glucose tests, tests for cholesterol levels and body mass index. External providers also offer peripheral activities to ensure Wellness Days are enjoyable and motivational. Individuals presenting concerning results are referred for treatment and enrolled in case management. Individual information is kept strictly confidential, however it is used to gather key health information on the entire company and inform programme development and implementation.

Case Management

Following a Wellness Day, any individuals identified as suffering from a chronic disease or at risk of developing a chronic disease, are assigned to one of Kaelo’s case managers who will guide them through lifestyle changes and medical interventions to manage their health and reduce future risks.

Healthy Workplace

The objective of Kaelo’s Healthy Workplace initiative is to assist companies in creating a health promoting environment that complements other health programmes. This is accomplished by educating employees on how to achieve good health, through newsletters, posters, information brochures and workshops that address topics such as nutrition, physical activity, stress, smoking cessation, etc.

Health Ambassadors/Peer Education

To complement a comprehensive HIV/AIDS programme and build capacity within the workplace, Peer Educators help raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among employees through individual and group sessions, help promote Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) and other educational programmes offered in the workplace, and further support health and wellness programmes. Peer Educators are professionally trained by Kaelo and are engaged in ongoing development and management thereafter. By aligning Peer Educator activities with those of the rest of the programme, peer education is an effective way to manage HIV/AIDS and reduce stigma in the workplace through a broader health strategy.

Absenteeism Management

Absenteeism and presenteeism (where staff are present at work but not productive), represent substantial costs for businesses. The overarching goal of Kaelo’s programmes is to assist companies in supporting their employees to move toward an improved state of health, which in turn helps improve key outputs such as absenteeism and improve the company’s bottom line. Kaelo gathers absenteeism data around both medical trends and opportunistic trends, and uses this to proactively examine and inform company policies, practices and programmes.
