Raise Your Voice, Speak Up

and put an end to Gender-Based Violence

Gender based violence is a violation of human rights.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Gender Based Violence (GBV) has significant and long-lasting impact on the overall physical and mental well-being of individuals.

This can include day-to-day neuropsychological complications that affect individuals’ memory and attention. It can also cause injury, unintended pregnancy and pregnancy complications, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and even death.

Throughout the world, it is estimated that one in three women will experience some form of GBV during her lifetime, threatening her quality of life and overall well-being as she navigates healing and recovery after these experiences. Although the stats are overwhelming, it is important to get help.

Remember it’s not only women who experience GBV however most stats speak about violence against women and children as they are the ones who are most likely to report the issue, while men are more likely to take the approach of not speaking up. Raise the voice within you. If you have experienced Gender Based Violence, know that you are not alone and it is not your fault.
