Is Your Money Working While You Sleep?
Your money has more to do.
Tonight, before you go to sleep, you will probably plug in your phone.
You won’t think much about it. It has become automatic.
And while you sleep – your phone charges. Quietly. Without any effort from you. Your money could be doing something similar.
We all know the feeling of waking up to a dead phone – the mild panic, the frustration of knowing it could have been avoided.
Now imagine waking up one day – years from now – and discovering your retirement savings had been idle when they could have been powering your future.
That is the financial version of the dead phone. And just like charging your phone, the fix is simple.
You just have to remember to do it.
Is Your Money Already Working?

Does your employer offer a retirement fund? Or if you are on a cost-to-company package – what retirement savings have you put in place?
You may already be investing every month. Automatically. Whether you think about it or not.

When Last Did You Check In?
Most people enrol in a retirement fund on their first day at a new job, fill in the form – and never look at it again.
Your salary, your family, your goals have changed.
The way your money is invested may not match who you are today.
You would not leave your phone on the same settings forever. Your retirement savings deserve the same attention.
Understanding the Two-Pot System
Since September 2024, your retirement savings are split into two:
Savings Pot
(1/3 of contributions)
What It Is: Accessible once per tax year. Minimum R2,000.
Tax applies on withdrawal.
What to Know: Use it as a last resort. Every withdrawal reduces your future.
Retirement Pot
(2/3 of contributions)
What It Is: Preserved until retirement. Cannot be withdrawn when you leave a job.
What to Know: This is your future, protected. Know what it is worth.
